The aims of our Information Counseling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) project are providing free legal assistance to refugees and internally displaced people. In the Pankisi Valley, KRDF lawyers are available for a free-of-cost legal advice and representation before administrative bodies and courts. Moreover, the lawyers familiarise the beneficiaries the United Nations Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement to help them realise their rights.
The ICLA project is funded by the Norwegian Refugee Council.
A related Naturalisation Programme provides assistance in granting Chechen refugees with Georgian citizenship. Individuals are granted dual Georgian and Russian citizenship.
KRDF legal assistants support newly naturalised refugees in preparing appropriate documents and agreements, and providing them with information on related procedures and ongoing programmes in Georgia.
Since the conception of this program 502 refugees have been naturalised.
